Wimax is a technology which provides wireless transmission of data. The technology supports peak download rates up to 46Mbps and peak uplink rates up to 14 Mbps. The technology is based on the IEEE 8o2.16 standard. 

 

Augere was established in 2007 by an experienced team of global telecoms executives with the vision to deliver ‘broadband for all’. Augere’s subsidiary in Bangladesh, Augere Wireless Broadband Bangladesh Limited, is a joint venture between Augere Holdings (Netherlands) and B.V. Teleport Bangladesh Limited and Aamra Resources Limited. Together they have brought a new Wimax service under the brand Qubee. Augere Bangladesh was formed on the 2nd of July, 2008. It is committed to achieving their goal i.e. to make the internet accessible for all, through the delivery of fast, reliable, broadband internet service in emerging market using Wimax technology.

 

Augere has an established leadership team in place with over 150 years of relevant experience. The company’s spectrum and license acquisition is well underway. Augere currently has access to Spectrum in Bangladesh, Uganda and Pakistan. Licenses are also being actively pursued in countries across Africa, South and South East Asia. Augere launched its first commercial network in Pakistan in July 2009 and  has  begun its service in Bangladesh from October  2009. 

 

In Bangladesh, Augere’s network and IT vendors include Huawei and Aricent. The company has exceptional expertise in the design, roll out and delivery of telecoms networks in emerging markets.
